Why is it…

…that some weight machine days are easier than others? Some days (and yes, I'm alternating cardio-only and cardio-and-weights days) the routines go so easily that I wonder if I've actually done all the sets, while others it's almost impossible to complete that third set. Oh, well, I guess it's one of those deep philosophical puzzlers, like The Meaning of Life. Anyway, today I dawdled a bit on the way to the gym, so I only had time for the cardio and the (will I make it all the way?) weights, and no time for a bike ride. My worst nemesis is the arm curl and its wimpy 20 pounds. I can't believe how hard it is to finish that last set each time. And I'm thinking of adding a bit of weight to both the hip adduction and hip abduction, and just can't decide if it should be 5 or 10 pounds (one is currently 50 and the other is 60). That's one of the things I'll talk with Terry about on Saturday, along with maybe adding some more machines.

I love you, Melissa! Your comments were just what I needed!! I'm going to avoid the nasty little metal devil.

Ooh, I hear you on that one! I still have a few more weeks before I can start working with weights again due to my surgery, but I feel the same way about my cardio. There are days that the walking and elliptical machine just seem easy as pie. Then there are the ... other days. The days where I feel like my legs are turning to jelly and I'm going to end up in a puddle on the floor. If you do figure it out ... or the Meaning of Life for that matter ;-) ... be sure to fill me in, too! LOL

ditto from me! Yesterday I felt like I was walking on stilts all day.

As to increasing your weights, I wouldn't increase by more than 10%. Same with your biking and running.
